WHAT IS COSMETIC TATTOO?
Cosmetic Tattoo can also be referred to as:
Micropigmentation, Permanent Make-Up or Semi-Permanent Make-Up.
Cosmetic Tattoo is an art and science of implanting small amounts of pigment into the skin using a small machine or hand tool. The design is created to enhance your facial features and mimic make-up.The pigment remains in the skin indefinitely, however the colour may fade over time due to environmental factors, aging, health factors or because of how light the particular pigments used in the treatment is.
WHAT ARE THE BENEFITS OF COSMETIC TATTOO?
Look and feel good 24/7.
Increase confidence & self-esteem.
Feel better without make-up on.
Correct asymmetry and fill natural patches.
Hide scars or discolouration.
Decreases the time spent on your daily beauty make-up regime.
Save money spent on cosmetics or beauty treatments.
DOES IT HURT?
Each client has different pain thresholds so the feeling will differ between clients. Most clients describe the first 15 minutes of brow tattooing like a light scratching feeling, more ‘annoying’ than painful and half of our clients fall asleep during the tattoo procedure.
We manage each client accordingly to keep your tattoo as pain free as possible.
HOW LONG DOES IT TAKE TO HEAL?
The first two weeks are the most crucial in terms of healing however your tattoo will continue to heal over the next 6 weeks after each appointment. Your artist will go over aftercare with you during your appointment.
It is important to be aware that the first few days your brows and lips will appear darker and bolder than your chosen and healed colour. This is because the pigment hasn't healed under the skin yet. The best time to have a good look at the brow colour is two weeks after your first appointment. The colour will then be much softer and settled in the skin. Your artist will go through the full healing process with you in your consultation.
WHAT ARE THE DIFFERENT APPOINTMENTS?
Initial Appointment is your first appointment. Initial appointments consist of a thorough consultation, mapping your facial features, design process, treatment and after-care instructions.
Perfection Appointment is your ‘touch up’ appointment where the design and tattoo from the Initial Appointment is perfected. This appointment takes place 6-8 weeks after Initial Appointment.
Colour Boost Appointment is your annual Colour Boost. This appointment keeps your cosmetic tattoo fresh, revitalised and brings the colour back to life. These appointments are exclusively discounted to my returning clients only.
SHOULD I WAX OR TINT MY BROWS PRIOR TO. COMING IN?
Your brows will be shaped accordingly at your appointment.
However if you have quite bushy eyebrows, please get a wax 2 weeks prior.
Do not tint, henna or laminate your eyebrows for minimum of 4 weeks prior to your appointment. These products alter your skin which will affect the healed result.
CAN YOU WORK OVER EXISTING TATTOO?
We are able to work with existing tattoo work that has been completed at another salon as long as the existing tattoo is light enough to do so. We do require clients to send through photos of their brows for approval to info@inkology.co.nz
Please note, in some cases, we may recommend tattoo removal.
CAN YOU COMPLETE TATTOO TREATMENTS FOR THOSE WHO HAVE CANCER?
Unfortunately, if you have started Chemotherapy or Radiation we would need to wait until 6 months after your last treatment before completing your tattoo.
CAN YOU TATTOO PREGNANT WOMEN?
Unfortunately we cannot do the procedure if you are pregnant. If you are nursing you will need to express for 24 hours after the treatment before feeding again.
